Guided playbooks FOR TEAMS

Bring real business work into the classroom

Understanding customers, designing business models, testing ideas against evidence. Playbooks give your students a designed sequence of activities in a shared workspace, so a case stops being something they discuss and becomes something they build.

  • Ready-to-run exercises, so you are not designing applied sessions from scratch.

  • Everyone works in the same space, which makes participation visible rather than optional.

  • Every student leaves with finished work they can defend, and show in an interview.

How it works

Turn business challenges into practical outcomes.

A playbook is not a course, a template pack, or a consulting engagement. It's guided work that takes your team through a proven Strategyzer method one step at a time.

You work on your own business problem, in our visual tools, with the facilitation built in, and you finish holding something you can use in your next meeting.

Step 1

Choose your challenge

Pick the playbook that matches the question in front of you. Each one tells you what you'll produce and roughly how long it takes.

Step 2

Follow the guided workflow

A short explanation, then the exercise. Ten to twenty minutes a step, alone or together, with the prompts a senior consultant would give you.

Step 3

Finish with an output you can use immediately

A finished canvas, profile or assessment — visual, shareable, and ready for the review you're walking into.

The outputs you walk away with

Every one of these is a real Strategyzer tool, filled in with your own business case.

Business Model Canvas

One page your leadership can read and challenge in five minutes

Value Proposition Canvas

Why a specific customer would choose you, in a form your whole team can repeat

Customer profile

The jobs, pains and gains that matter, ranked — not guessed

Customer ecosystem map

Who actually decides: user, buyer, channel partner, blocker

Value scenes

A storyboard showing how your product creates value, so people stop debating adjectives

Business model assessment

Scored strengths and weaknesses, with the questions we use in client work

Team Alignment Map

Who has committed to what, by when — agreed in the room, not assumed afterwards

Evidence map

What you actually know, how strongly, and where the risk still sits

Customer ecosystem map

Who actually decides: user, buyer, channel partner, blocker

A practical path from idea to impact.

Follow clear steps, advance your work, and create tangible results.

A playbook open on a laptop, annotated with five labels: receive guidance — the Strategyzer books come alive as step-by-step guidance; learn fast — bite-sized lessons giving just-in-time information; apply now — outcome-driven activities that apply what you learned; advance projects — load playbooks for as many projects as you need and run async workshops; achieve outcomes — work collaboratively on real business artefacts to align on a common language and make progress.

Why trust this

The methods 200,000 companies already use, turned into steps you can run.

The Business Model Canvas and Value Proposition Canvas came from here. A playbook is that work, made runnable without us in the room.

Of client work behind the methods

“Unlike books or courses that just explain concepts, a playbook gives you a repeatable process you can actually run. The problem is rarely knowledge, teams often know the tools. What they lack is a structured way to move from insight to decision to action, together, on their real work.”

What happens when a Fortune 100 runs playbooks instead of their legacy approach.

They banned slides. A global industrial technology company ran its growth reviews across four events on three continents. Every team arrived having run a playbook instead of building a deck.

Ninety seconds on the idea, then the evidence. Leadership stopped judging polish and started interrogating proof. Some projects were killed — before the money moved, which the teams counted as a win.

The pre-work was less work than the slides it replaced. Those slides had been through five stakeholders anyway. The same effort now produces evidence instead of decoration.

And it gave everyone a shared language. Cross-functional teams and leadership could finally discuss the same work in the same terms.

“What sets Strategyzer apart is the way they blend all these elements into an actionable format. This approach helps you take concrete steps and start doing, rather than wasting valuable time figuring out how to begin.”

“I now run most of my workshops with Strategyzer Playbooks. Each team works through one focused exercise at a time, and the ideas from that exercise carry forward into the next. It also has all my favorite canvases and templates ready to use.”

Playbooks vs the alternatives

See how playbooks differ from books, courses, and workshops.

We publish books and run consulting engagements ourselves. They solve different problems — if one of them fits you better, use it.

OptionGood atWhere it leaves youWhat a playbook takes from it
BooksDepth. The whole argument, properly made. You close the book knowing what to do and still face a blank Monday. The method — sequenced into steps instead of chapters
Online coursesEfficient explanation, and a shared vocabulary across a group. They end when you understand. Understanding was never the deliverable.Short teaching, delivered at the moment you need it
ConsultantJudgement and hard conversations. Worth it when the problem is genuinely novel.Expensive and calendar-dependent, and the capability tends to leave with the consultant. The facilitation — designed in, so it runs without a booking
Templates and softwareFlexibility, and a shared surface for a distributed team.A blank canvas doesn't know what good looks like or what order to work in.The workspace — pre-structured, with the prompts already in it
A Strategyzer PlaybookThe only one of these that walks beside you while you do the work — and leaves the capability with your team rather than with us.

When a playbook is the wrong choice. If you need someone to challenge your strategy in the room, book a person — talk to our consulting team →. If you want to build the skill deliberately, with cohort teaching and feedback, take a masterclass →. Playbooks are for the situation in between: you know what needs doing, you own the outcome, and you need it done this month.

The questions that come up most

Is this an online course?

No. A course finishes when you understand something. A playbook finishes when the work is done. There are short videos — three to five minutes — but they exist to get you through the next exercise, not to teach you a subject.

Is it a template library?

No. Templates hand you a blank structure. A playbook tells you which step comes next, gives you the prompts a facilitator would, and connects your work together — the customer profile you build early becomes the input to the assessment later.

Who is it for?

Anyone who owns a business question and has to come back with an answer. Strategy leads, product leads, go-to-market leads and business-unit heads all use them. You don't need to know the canvases already — each playbook teaches what it needs, when it needs it.

How long does one take?

About two hours on your own. With a team, one exercise a week over two to three weeks works better — it fits real calendars and the thinking benefits from the gaps.

Does someone have to facilitate?

No, and this is the part we worked hardest on. The facilitation is designed into the playbook, so the most senior person in the room can take part instead of running the session.

What's included for $299?

One user, for twelve months, with every playbook in the library plus each new one as it's released, updates as the methods evolve, unlimited projects and workspaces with AI support, and live coaching sessions.

How does it work for my team?

Access is per person. Team and enterprise plans are arranged with our team rather than bought online, so seats, rollout and invoicing match how you work. Most teams start with one person running a playbook to see whether it earns the seats.

What are the subscription terms, and can I get a refund?

Your subscription runs for twelve months and renews annually. You can cancel any time, and your projects stay yours. If you buy it, run a whole playbook and decide it isn't for you, tell us within 14 days and we'll refund you in full.

Anything else — reimbursement, client and academic use, exports — ask our team →
