A Look Back At My Summer Reading List

Harvard Business Review (Germany edition) asked me to share my summer reading list. I’m reposting here to share with you. Here are some titles that helped me stay up-to-date on creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

I’m a big fan of audiobooks (at double speed) because I can take in the content while I’m on the go, or exercising.

I recently finished reading Principles by Ray Dalio. Dalio is the founder of Bridgewater, which used to be the biggest hedge fund in the world. He talks about idea meritocracy, where ideas win over hierarchy.

Then I've been reading a lot about willpower. I’ve just finished  Kelly McGonigal’s The Willpower Instinct, which I enjoyed a lot. I'm really into figuring out more about willpower, and how to apply it to everything that’s important in my life (personal and professional).

This summer I also read the following titles:

I really enjoyed You, Your Child and School by Sir Ken Robinson. Ken Robinson shows how our educational system basically takes the creativity out of every kid and doesn't help them discover who they are and who they might become.

Another one is Good Boss, Bad Boss by Bob Sutton. I’ve always enjoyed Bob Sutton’s thinking and writing, but haven’t been able to stay up to date. He wrote The No Asshole Rule which is very important at Strategyzer.

Lastly, I enjoyed reading Creativity Rules by Tina Seelig. This one is really to stay up to date with the latest thinking on creativity by a person I admire. It’s important for me to stay up to date with creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
