A 4-month innovation process to test and validate your most promising business ideas.

The Validation Sprint is ideal for teams who have already shaped their ideas. It combines in-person workshops, online learning and remote coaching to help an innovation team validate their business idea. Over a 12-week period of intense testing the team will drastically reduce the risk of a business idea that won’t deliver on expectations and prepare it for further investment.


The Process


18 weeks


Week 1 - 4

The Preparation phase is all about engaging stakeholders, and aligning on key success factors. At the end of the Preparation phase all participants and stakeholders will have a clear understanding of what they can expect from the Validation Sprint, and what’s expected from them.

Phase Breakdown
  • Alignment meeting with leadership team to discuss leadership involvement expected in the Validation Sprint
  • Alignment meeting(s) at operational level to discuss project success factors and resources, and review the plan and roles & responsibilities of different stakeholders
  • Set up of infrastructure and logistics for webinar and workshop.
  • Kick-off webinar with all participants to set goals & expectations and introduce the team to their coach and toolkit.

Validation Workshop

Week 5

In the 2-day validation workshop the 3 to 5 selected teams will familiarize themselves with the testing process they will go through in Validation phase to test the remaining critical hypotheses underlying their Business Model and Value Proposition. Together with their coach they will create their testing plan for the next 12 weeks.

Week 6-17

In the Testing phase, teams will further de-risk their ideas by designing experiments to test the next batch of critical hypotheses underlying their Business Model and Value Proposition. In an iterative process they will go back and forth between designing and testing their ideas. The insights they gain from testing will help them make data-driven decisions.

Phase Breakdown
  • Design of experiments with guidance from their coach
  • Several rounds of experiments to validate or refute the hypotheses
  • Documentation of findings in the Strategyzer App
  • Preparation of pitch with feedback from their coach
  • Submission of video pitch or live presentation, 7-10mins, to leadership team and/or growth board

Transition from Validation to Acceleration

Week 18 (Optional)

The leadership team and/or growth board will decide whether the team should continue to the Acceleration phase with the support of the Strategyzer team if needed.

  • Leadership team and/or growth board assess idea based on the video or live presentation and decide whether they should invest further in team / idea

The right tool kit for innovation

  • An online course to train teams effectively and provide them with a deep understanding of the testing process,
  • A set of practical tools (Business Model & Value Proposition Canvas, Test & Learning Card),
  • The Strategyzer Web App to capture and digitize design activities, testing evidence and insights, and track the team’s progress,
  • The Testing Business Ideas book to provide the team with a library of experiments

World-class coaching by our experts

  • Face-to-face workshops led by experienced Strategyzer coaches.
    • Initial 2-day validation testing workshop to kick off the program and train team on tools and processes to test new business ideas.
    • Optional 1-day results workshop to share learning and evidence from the testing phase and plan for next steps (video pitch and webinar by default).
  • Remote coaching and guidance by Strategyzer coaches, with several weekly touch points to overcome challenges specific to each team’s idea.
  • Leadership coaching on innovation portfolio management specificities, how to make evidence-based decisions and how to support innovation team (whether team makes it to the next phase after validation or not).

Professional Program Management

  • A dedicated Customer Success Manager will enable program set-up in 4-6 weeks,
  • And provide the infrastructure for smooth sailing of all teams throughout the program.
