The Discovery Program is ideal for teams who are just starting to shape their ideas. It combines webinars, online learning and remote coaching to help a cohort of up to 10 teams test their business ideas. Over a 8-week period of design and testing each team will assess the potential of their idea, reduce its risk, and prepare it for further investment.


The Process


15 weeks


Week 1 - 4

The Preparation phase is all about identifying and engaging stakeholders, aligning on key success factors, and selecting suitable teams, team leads and projects. At the end of the Preparation phase all participants and stakeholders will have a clear understanding of what they can expect from the program, and what’s expected from them.

Phase Breakdown
  • Alignment meeting with leadership team to discuss leadership involvement expected in the Discovery program
  • Alignment meeting(s) at operational level to discuss project success factors and resources, identify the right teams to participate in the Discovery phase, and review the plan and roles & responsibilities of different stakeholders
  • Set up of infrastructure and logistics for webinars
What You’ll Get
  • Selection of up to 10 teams and 10 ideas suitable for the program
  • A roadmap for the following 8 weeks that will allow all participants to allocate their time effectively
  • Access to Strategyzer app and online training for all participants
  • All invitations sent for webinars


Week 5

In the Design phase the teams will familiarize themselves with the Strategyzer tools, shape their initial ideas using the Business Model Canvas and Value Proposition Canvas, create early prototypes in brainstorming sessions and their testing plan.

Phase Breakdown
  • Kick-off webinar with all participants to set goals & expectations, and introduce business design using the Strategyzer toolkit
  • Team work session to sketch a Customer Profile, Value Map and Business Model Canvas
  • Team work session on most critical hypotheses and testing plan

Week 6-12

In the Testing phase, teams will de-risk their business ideas by going out into the real world, talking to customers and collecting evidence. In an iterative process they will go back and forth between designing and testing their ideas. The insights they gain from testing will help them make data-driven decisions.

Phase Breakdown
  • Design of customer interviews and other experiments with guidance from their coach
  • Several rounds of experiments to validate or refute the hypotheses
  • Documentation of findings in the Strategyzer App
  • Preparation of pitch with feedback from their coach
  • Submission of video pitch, 7-10mins, to leadership team and/or growth board

  • Evidence that customers are interested in the idea, or not
  • Business model decisions by the teams: shelve the idea, pivot or persevere
  • Practice of entrepreneurial skills
  • Continued coaching in how to apply the Strategyzer methodology
  • Video pitch for the leadership team or growth board

Transition from Discovery to Validation

Week 13 (Optional)

The leadership team and/or growth board should then select the 3 to 5 teams to go to the Validation phase.

Phase Breakdown
  • Leadership team and/or growth board assess ideas based on the videos and decide whether they should invest further in each team / idea.

  • An online course to learn and apply the tools and processes to shape and test new business ideas.
